Blogmas 2018 - Day 15: Choosing a Christmas Tree

Today we went and bought a Christmas tree. Last year, just my husband and daughter went, so my son and I missed out. This year, we were very environmentally unfriendly and took two cars so we could fit all the people and the tree into a vehicle.

We’ve never been to Bunkers Hill Plant Nursery, but thought we’d give it a try. It’s a small, family run nursery, and very lovely, despite the freezing rain.

There was lots of choice of trees, and we easily found a nice one which we knew would fit our space.

There was plenty of fundraising going on at the nursery for Mind and local charity Restore (the owners lost their son last year, aged 23, after a brief period of Mental Illness) such as raffle tickets and a Reindeer Hunt. We didn’t do the reindeer hunt because of the weather but I am considering popping in next week after school if the weather perks up a bit. We did buy some raffle tickets though.

The nursery was also offering free hot chocolate, and you could buy mince pies and gingerbread men. We bought the children a Santa gingerbread man each to take home with us. I think we’ll definitely go back next year for our tree...hopefully in drier conditions.
