Summer Holiday Activities 2019 - Oxfordshire and surrounding area

There are lots of fun things going on over the Summer Holidays in Oxfordshire and the surrounding area. If you need something to keep the kids busy, check out the ideas below. I’ve included lots of links to the original webpages - please do go and check these out, and contact the service provider for more details or to book. 

I’ll add to this throughout the summer as I hear about new things, so please do check back! Hopefully you’ll find plenty to keep your little ones out of mischief.

Ashmolean Museum
31st July - 1st August, 7th - 8th August, 14th - 15th August
Summer Fun - Roman Holiday2pm-4pm, Learning Studio 
Find out about Ancient Roman feasts and myths with crafts and storytelling. 

You can download free museum family trails here or pick one up at the Welcome Desk when you arrive.

Themed Adventure Packs, Explorer is and sketching material can be found at the Welcome Desk,subject to availability. There is a suggested donation of £1.

Aspire Dance Academy
Dance workshops for ages 4+ held on 14th August and 21st August.
Acro workshops for ages 4-12 held on 15th, 16th, 22nd and 23rd August.
Sessions run from 10am-3pm and cost £25. See the Facebook page for more details on how to book a place.  

Bicester Tennis Club

Green Dragon Eco Farm
25th July - 3rd September - Plenty of Summer Fun to be had at Green Dragon Eco Farm. New animals for the holidays includes baby skunk in Pets Corner, and the Lynx.

Ignite Sport
Ofsted registered school holiday sport clubs. Ages 4+, and prices start at £9. All the details can be found here

Lisa Jayne Art Studio
5th - 22nd August - Variety of children’s art courses. Age 5+. 

Millets Farm Centre 
The beach at Frosts Garden Centre is now open, and will be all summer.

17th July - 3rd September - This year’s fantasy themed Maize Maze will be open.

24th - 26th July & 13th - 15th August - Teddy Bears Picnic at Sprouts Play Barn
10.30am -  11.30am, 1.30-2.30pm & 4.30pm-5.30pm
£21.99 per ticket which includes child and an accompanying adult. Additional adults are £2 per person.
The event includes play time in the soft play, a picnic and you also get to make your own teddy bear to take home. 

Muddy Feet
Plenty of Summer Holiday Forest School activities at Evenley Wood Gardens.Details of times, costs and how to book can be found here but events include Family Days and Summer Camp days.

A free interactive exhibition for families in collaboration with The Story Museum, Oxford.

7th August, Drop in 11am-3.30pm, sessions every 30mins - Iron Age Mystery and Magic - animate a story using clay modelling and stop motion software. £2 per child/£5 per family.  Ages 7+.
8th August, 2pm-4pm - Get ahead get a hat - Make a fun hat or helmet. £2 per child/£5 per family.  
13th August, 2pm-4pm - Down the rabbit hole - What is inside a rabbit burrow? Use your imagination and make a model. £2 per child/£5 per family.  
14th August, 11am-12.15pm, 1pm-2.15pm, 2.45pm-4.15pm -Teeth Detectives - Discover the science of teeth and make your own cast of human teeth to take home. £2 per child/£5 per family.  
15th August, 2pm-4pm - Lion v Unicorn - Choose your champion and decorate a shield. £2 per child/£5 per family.  
20th August, 2pm - 4pm - Once upon a time along the river - Explore riverside plants and creatures, and make your own 3D scene. £2 per child/£5 per family.  
21st August, Drop-in 11am-3.30pm - Experiment - Various simple experiments such as spinning wool and making a sun compass. Ages 7+.  £2 per child/£5 per family.  
22nd August, 2pm-4pm - Fabulous Flamingos - Learn flamingo facts and make a flamingo puppet. £2 per child/£5 per family.  
27th August, 2pm - 4pm - I’m late I’m late - Make a white rabbit spoon puppet. £2 per child/£5 per family.  
28th August, 11am-12 pm, 2pm-3pm - Poo from the past - Experience excavation, recording and analysing content of fake poos from the past!  £2 per child/£5 per family.  
29th August, 2pm-4pm - Mammoths, dodos and dinosaurs - Sponge painting and collage activity. £2 per child/£5 per family.
