My first #LittleLoves

Wow. Hasn’t this week dragged?! The rubbish weather, and the fact that preschool doesn’t start again until next week, means that we extended the Crimbo Limbo period into this week and continued to slob at home. As much as I hate to say it, I think we’ve pushed the laziness too far. Yesterday was a little on the fraught side, so today was spent at “Hell on Earth” (aka soft play) to try burn some of the kids excess energy. Rather than have a post focused on a relatively “blah” week I thought I’d try a new little challenge, and write a positive #LittleLoves post.

Read
My only 2018 resolution/goal is to read more. I have set up a GoodReads profile and have started the year with a book that’s been sitting on the shelf for quite a while - The Paying Guests by Sarah Waters. I’m probably just over halfway through and enjoying it so far. It’s nowhere near as good as Fingersmith, another Sarah Waters book I really loved, but I’m still holding out for a good twist! Fingers crossed.

Watched
I’m going to have to put two things in this category. Stranger Things and Black Mirror. Having only recently got Netflix I am very behind on watching what the whole word seems to have already seen. However, over the last week or so Stu and I have binge watched Season 1 of Stranger Things together. I’m not sure what I was expecting from Stranger Things and I was actually pretty satisfied with the ending of season 1. I’m interested to see where they go with it in the second season and I hope they don’t spoil it!

Series 4 of Black Mirror has been my “watch on the iPad with headphones in the corner of Benjamin’s room whilst he falls asleep” programme. I really loved this and it is definitely my kind of tv show. I caught a couple of episodes of season 1 when it first came out, but then seasons 2-3 seem to have passed me by. I think I’ll have to go back and catch up on those assuming they are as good as season 4!

Heard
This is a tricky one. Probably the blooming Moana soundtrack. I used to love listening to music, and discovering new artists, but it’s not something I’ve done much in recent years with the kids around - especially as my favourite music tends to be a bit sweary.

I had given podcasts a try last year but they didn’t really work for me. I’m just not sure I’ve found any that are a good fit for when I’d be listening to them (whilst completing mundane household tasks) and what matches my interests. However, as I’ve heard so many people talk about how much they enjoy podcasts I think I might give them another try this year. Let me know any recommendations you might have!

Made
Glove puppets! Whilst trapped in the house this week Charlotte’s second Mister Maker craft set popped through the letter box. (We weren’t going to enter into the monthly subscription, but realised you can opt-in for every other month so are going to try that for a bit). This time round was sock puppets. Everything we needed was provided and, apart from a little help with the pipe cleaner hair, Charlotte managed it mostly by herself!

Wore
This will be most uninspiring category as I’ve barely ventured out of my pyjamas. Don’t get me wrong, I have been washing and dressing (unlike most of Crimbo Limbo week) but I’ve not been out of my pjs for particularly long periods of time.

and lastly
I don’t really have anything additional to add to my post this time so I thought I’d give you the lowdown on what #LittleLoves actually is! Morgana from coffeeworksleeprepeat.com runs a linky where you are encouraged to look back on the lovely things which have made up your week/month/‘whenever you decide to join in”. It’s all explained brilliantly over on her website, but I thought I’d give it a shot this week as it has been a bit of a nothing week for us. And I wanted to write something as I figured you must be missing me after all the Blogmas spam during December! I’ve really enjoyed looking at my week in this way and, although I don’t think I’ll be joining in on a weekly basis, I’m going to try make it a monthly a thing. Surely it’s always good to set aside some time to reflect on the positives in life? Gah, that means I've made a second resolution!

  3. This time of year is a bit blah isn't it? That glove puppet looks fab though and I'm going to look up Sarah Waters

    1. I’ve never struggled with mood and time of year but I hated last January and February. Making a conscious effort to focus on all the positives this time round...hence getting involved with #littleloves :)
I’d recommend Sarah Waters. Some of her books has been televised too if you manage to find them.x
