NYE with kids

I have to admit I’ve never really been one for going “out out” on New Years Eve. Entry prices to clubs and venues are massively inflated, taxis cost a fortune, and you are surrounded by people so desperate to have “the best night ever” that they actually just radiate misery and disappointment! I think I’ve spent one NYE at a pub, and maybe one at The Cockpit in Leeds (RIP).  I had a good night each time as they are very low key, but I think going crazy on NYE is just something I'll never really get.

NYE 2007 at The Cockpit
For a number of years our lovely friends have hosted great NYE gatherings at their homes which we attended until we had the kids. Now we tend to curl up on the sofa with a boozy drink, fireworks and Jools Holland's Hootenanny on the telly, and struggling to keep my eyes open until midnight. I am certainly not complaining and this is definitely a favourite way to bring in the new year. I'm quite looking forward to when the kids are a bit older though and we can keep them up a bit later to join in the fun. I guess we'll start some new family oriented New Year traditions then. Probably with a bit less fizz for them both though!
